Gregory Hale was described as neighbours as “sick” - he was obsessed with cannibalism and death, often taking home bones, blood and eyeballs from the meat processing plant he was employed at. He would often praise serial killers, such as Richard Ramirez, on his Facebook page. On 8 June, 2014, he met 36-year-old Marie Hyder at a liquor store and took her back to his home where they slept together. He then brutally murdered her and dismembered her and cannibalised portions of her remains. He was apprehended after Hale had asked a friend to help dispose of her remains which he had placed in plastic buckets. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
